Accelerated Nursing Admissions Overview for Utica Programs
When accepting students into our program, we seek dedicated, passionate individuals who meet the academic requirements and have the qualities that embody the true spirit of nursing, which is why we do not rely solely on GPA when determining an applicant’s potential.
Our admissions team carefully evaluates the qualifications of each applicant before making the final decision as to who is admitted.
To be eligible for the Utica ABSN program, you must:
- Satisfy the academic background requirements
- Meet the 2.8 GPA and academic requirements
- Complete all required degree requirement courses (formerly called prerequisites)
- Complete 60 credit hours in liberal arts courses, including all non-nursing courses that are nursing program degree requirements
- Hold a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing major
To be eligible for the Utica Advanced Standing B.S. in Nursing program, you must:
- Satisfy the academic background requirements
- Meet the 2.8 GPA and academic requirements
- Complete all necessary degree requirement courses (formerly called prerequisites)
- Complete 60 credit hours in liberal arts courses, including all non-nursing courses that are nursing program degree requirements
- Hold an associate's degree in a non-nursing major or 60 successfully completed credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree

ABSN Enrollment Schedule
Both our ABSN program and Advanced Standing B.S. in Nursing program are for motivated individuals who want to transition into a nursing career quickly. Our enrollment schedule offers program start dates in January, May, and August, with applications typically due two months before each respective start date.

Do I need to complete the degree requirements before I apply to the ABSN track?
Yes, candidates must complete a set of general and natural science degree requirement courses to be considered for admission into Utica’s ABSN or Advanced Standing B.S. in Nursing. Many of these courses, however, can be regarded as complete if the candidate earned a grade of “C” or better for general courses and an overall 3.0 GPA or better in the natural science courses while completing a previous degree.
Is the ABSN program accredited?
