Jennifer Hill, site director for the Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program, answered some questions about her background and her new position.
Describe your educational and professional background.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from LeMoyne College. I’ve worked in operations and customer service for 25 years. I enjoy interactions with people and providing excellent service. I also enjoy figuring out what needs to be done to make people successful and then implementing the developed plan.
What led you to your new position at Utica College?
I was fortunate enough to be referred to the position through a business associate who thought I’d be a good fit. Once I reviewed the job description and had the first phone interview, I knew I wanted to work in this environment and for this program.
What do you do as a site director?
For the most part, my responsibilities are to ensure the admissions advisors are able to do their jobs to the best of their abilities and to coach them to success. We need to ensure we are working as efficiently and effectively possible to assist students in the process of enrolling in school and earning their degree.
What do you love most about your new position?
The team at Utica College is impressive! The students are engaging and dedicated! I’m enjoying learning about all the ways we can interact with our students so that they can successfully complete their degree. I’m looking forward to getting more involved with community partners as well so that our students can get even more exposure and opportunity to learn about and work in their field.
What one thing do you want students to know about you?
They come first! I have an open door policy, and I want them to get as comfortable stopping in to see me as they are to visit with their advisors. I like to meet people and get to know them, so I hope that as time goes on I can do that with all of our students!
